Crash
For years, Chrissi has proven herself abroad, mastering cars as a stunt driver. After a serious accident, she has to return to her childhood village und is caught up in the tormenting memories of her family’s history. To this day, her father is trapped in his own pain and unable to be there for her. In an act of desperation, he offers her money so that she can build a life elsewhere, independent of the German social system. The relationship between the two is put to the test...

“The idea for CRASH has been on my mind for years. I grew up in a small village and for me this place and my family were always a source of unconditional support, until my best friend had a fatal accident when he was 18. When I visit my parents today, we drive past wooden crosses on the roadside where countless young people coming from home from the disco late at night have lost their lives. Back then, these horrible accidents hung over everything like a dark shadow because almost always a similar pattern evolves – lives are destroyed, couples split up, friendships fall apart, just like it happened to us back then.
Today I would say that the pain was too powerful to find a common language about what had happened in order for us to stick together at that crucial moment. So it was very important to me to make a film about that.”
