Éva and her family live in a small village in Hungary. Their 16-year-old child has recently come out as transgender and lives under his self-chosen name Tobi. After overcoming the initial shock, the whole family supports him. But quietly, the idea of losing the girl she raised takes Éva's breath away. Tobi is determined to become a man biologically, while at the same time struggling with growing up. Éva tries everything to be the mother her son needs, while Tobi questions the boundaries he has set for himself as a transgender man.

“I have special access to this story because I know the area where the family is coming from really well because half of my own family is living there. I have a strong connection with my characters. The four years we spent together were very intense and eye-opening in many ways. In this story of Tobi and Éva, the main focus is not the physical change, but the changes in the family’s life. This is an extreme coming-of-age story, the main thing is to see the emotional dynamics between Tobias and his mother, Éva, and to see how they confront their boundaries. I would like to use this film to show the human side of a family and to show how hard it is to be part of the LGBTQ community even if the family is supportive. I want the viewer to feel after watching: ‘I want to go home and do something for own my family’.”
