The Door of Return
“Do I really have to travel to Earth in 2020, or can I just switch to another year?” Two black women in a holodeck. The year 2440 on Saturn. The year 2020 is their destination. Racism, sexism, and capitalism have been overcome. The history of our present echoes into the future. Afro-German history has been made invisible. The N-word is still spoken, Germanness and Blackness as a supposed contradiction, an error in the system. A call-and-response between 2020 and 2440.
