    54th HOF IFF Festival Opening

    Strong opening

The 54th Hof International Film Festival is open! With the successful opening by Julia von Heinz's German premiere of AND TOMORROW THE ENTIRE WORLD and a personal greeting from the Bavarian State Minister for Digital Affairs, the Hof International Film Festival, under the artistic direction of Thorsten Schaumann, is starting a new, unusual edition this year. Even though this time many things are different and you can only meet old and new friends with social distancing and a mask, we are still happy to present an exciting and interesting program in the cinemas and on demand. Despite the difficult circumstances, the focus today was on the good-humored film team. In a sold-out cinema, in compliance with the applicable hygiene regulations, festival fans greeted Julia von Heinz and her team with great applause, thus ensuring a successful start to the festival.

About the film: Luisa (MALA EMDE) is 20 years old, comes from a good family and is studying law in her first semester. Alarmed by the shift to the right in the country and the increasing popularity of populist parties, she joins forces with her friends to take a clear stand against the new right-wing wave. She quickly makes friends with the charismatic Alfa (NOAH SAAVEDRA) and his best friend Lenor (TONIO SCHNEIDER): For both of them, the use of violence is also a legitimate means of resistance. Soon, events come to a head. Luisa must decide how far she is willing to go...

Inspired by her own experiences, Julia von Heinz wrote the script together with John Quester. In the leading role, Mala Emde ("303") is fascinating as a combative young woman, who stands in the storm and urge of emotions in the face of radical decisions. At her side Noah Saavedra ("Freud"), Tonio Schneider and Luisa-Céline Gaffron ("When Hitler Stole Pick Rabbit") prove to be no less exciting discoveries.
