On Thursday, 2 February 2023 the documentary film BARRICADE (55th Hof International Film Festival) will be released in German cinemas.
In October 2019, the Dannenröder Forest in Hesse was occupied by climate activists to protect it from being cleared for a new highway. They lived for a year in tree houses built at heights of over 20 meters in the treetops, creating an alternative living and open space. A year later, with the beginning of the clearing season, clearing of the structures and clearing of the path for the A49 began. The approximately 250 squatters resisted with the means of civil disobedience, until on 8 December 2020, the last tree with the last tree house fell.
Filmmaker David Klammer is always close up with his camera, for example when tree houses are built at a height of 25 meters (!) and cleared at the end. Distributor: UCM.One
BARRICADE is "an immensely inspiring portrait of a generation that sees civil disobedience as its right and the fight for the future of our world as its responsibility." (Kino-Zeit).
