On Sunday, 1 December 2024, ISOLATION (55th Hof International Film Festival/HoF IFF), an anthology and documentary film comprising five episodes directed by Julia von Heinz, Michele Placido, Olivier Guerpillon, Jaco Van Dormael, and Michael Winterbottom, will be screened at 6:00 pm at the Neues Rottmann Cinema in Munich. Following the film, there will be an audience talk with Julia von Heinz and producer Philipp Kreuzer, moderated by HoF IFF’s Artistic Director Thorsten Schaumann. Additional screenings will take place on Tuesday, 3 December 2024 and Wednesday, 4 December 2024, also at 6:00 pm.
Each of the five short films, lasting 15 to 20 minutes, is a personal and previously untold story about the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film offers an emotional journey through an unprecedented time and serves as an artistic call for solidarity, the preservation of healthcare systems, and European unity during times of crisis.
The film had its world premiere in 2021 at the Venice Film Festival as part of the Giornate degli Autori, where it was honored with the Inclusion Award.
