On Thursday, 6 June 2024, the gripping documentary HARRAGA – THOSE WHO BURN THEIR LIVES (57th Hof International Film Festival 2023 / HOF IFF) opens on German screens. Filmmaker Benjamin Rost and protagonist Imad Faiz are touring to cinemas.
The Moroccan teenagers Imad, Nourdine, Walid and Hamza live in a stone cave under a lighthouse in Melilla. Every night they break into the nearby harbor. There they try to climb unnoticed onto ships bound for the Spanish mainland. They and dozens of other children have formed their own society under the protection of the rocks.
HARRAGA with Benjamin Rost, Imad Faiz and other guests will be shown on Thursday, 6 June 2024 at 8 p.m. at Bellevue di Monaco in Munich. An audience discussion following the screening will be moderated by Thorsten Schaumann, Artistic Director of the HOF IFF.
