On Friday, 18 October 2024, the collaboration between the Theater Hof and the Hof International Film Festival (HoF IFF) kicks off. The theater has historically been, and continues to be, a source of inspiration for feature films. Over the decades, cinema has also inspired the theater to create new stories.
A prime example of this is the theater play THEA VON TAUPERLITZ ODER KEIN DENKMAL FÜR DIE FRAU HINTER "METROPOLIS" by Kristoffer Keudel, which will premiere on Friday, 18 October 2024 at 7:30 pm at the Theater Hof. It is about none other than Thea von Harbou, who was born in Tauperlitz near Hof. She was the most successful screenwriter in the world in the 1920s and 1930s. Among other, she wrote the screenplay for the film METROPOLIS, directed by her husband Fritz Lang. The film is now a World Cultural Heritage.
On Saturday, 19 October 2024 at 7:30 pm, the HoF IFF will present Beate Thalberg's film DOUBLE EXPOSURE (DIE DOPPELTE FRAU / 57th HoF IFF 2023) at the studio of the Theater Hof. This docu-fiction, filmed in a film noir style, follows the photographer Carl Ellinger and reinterprets historical events for a wide audience.
During the film festival, on Thursday, 24 October 2024 at 4:00 pm, there will be a reading and talk on the topic "Cinema – The Grand Theater" at the Bürgergesellschaft (BG) Hof.
