Since 2012, the German Cinema New Talent Award has been presented to filmmakers for their first to third feature-length film of German production. All films that premiere in the program of the Hof International Film Festival and have a minimum length of 79 minutes can qualify. The award for the best film, endowed with 10,000 euros, is sponsored by Bavaria Film, Bayerischer Rundfunk and DZ Bank. An independent jury will select the winner.
This year's jury members are: Luzie Loose (director, screenwriter), Katrin Schlösser (producer, director) and Johanna Wokalek (actress).
