Annika works in a supermarket but dreams of the perfect mermaid fin that will finally bring glitz and glamour into her less than optimal life. One day, her father unexpectedly appears on her doorstep and moves in with her. Her colleague and friend Karo dedicates her time and energy to her latest romantic affair and leaves her two children with Annika. Marc, whom she met at the swimming pool, spends a night with Annika – and stays. In fact, he doesn’t have an apartment of his own. Last but not least, cut-backs are to be made in the supermarket and the shamanically trained store manager is looking for potential lay-offs. But none of that matters: Annika needs the fin – and it costs a lot!
“[...] My protagonists are crafty and brave. And they have to be, because we live in a world where it’s too easy to fall by the wayside if you don’t learn to stand up for yourself...”
