RICARDO ET LA PEINTURE is Barbet Schroeder's portrait of his friend, the painter Ricardo Cavallo, who has devoted his life to painting. From Buenos Aires to Finistère, via Paris and Peru, this film is not only an invitation to delve into the history of painting but also to discover the life of an extraordinary man who, with simplicity and humility, has always been fully committed, even passing on his passion to the children of his village.

“I was immediately struck by his painting and his personality. I knew on the spot that in life you meet only a few people like him. Ricardo is a man with a unique sensitivity, an extraordinary openness to others, and a generosity that he constantly displays. I was lucky enough to be the first to discover the most secret part of his work: thousands of extraordinary and believable gouaches that are part of what he calls ‘active imagination.’”
