Crying Is Allowed, Laughing Is Not!

After his grandfather’s sudden death, 9-year-old Nejat sees a funeral home for the very first time. They have hardly arrived when his devastated and mourning parents leave him to himself. In this chaotic environment, Nejat becomes confused, especially since he doesn’t know how to feel or behave in this particular situation. Everyone around him, though, has strong opinions about how he should feel or behave, and they force him to behave accordingly. Under this pressure, Nejat finds himself in a great struggle “not to be sad.” As the tension escalates, the war begins...
