Engulfed by a paralyzing feeling of unease and cut off from friends and family, Lea finds herself in a violent relationship with Sven. There is no real life left, only the abyss, stagnation, and surface. After another assault, a knee-jerk reaction drives Lea to flee on foot through the forest. In the middle of the night, she arrives at a secluded country inn that is just being renovated by a couple. They look after the confused Lea. But shortly afterward, Sven turns up. He has tracked Lea down and will not let anyone or anything take her away from him. Lea has to make a decision – will she let herself be taken back yet again, or will she stand up to him?

“With Vexier, I try to make tangible the feeling of numbness, emotional paralysis, and the inner burden of a toxic relationship. A shadow hangs over those affected, from which there seems to be no clear way out. In such a relationship—whether as a partner or a friend—a mixture of glossed-over thoughts, positive memories, manipulations, habits, and dependencies is constructed. Those around the concerned party often see it clearly, but the concerned people themselves hardly ever do. Vexier is dark and threatening, intended to convey oppression, tension, and forlornness, and to bring the feeling of emotional constriction to the screen.”
