After an extended stay abroad, 25-year-old Gwen returns with her boyfriend, Adam, to his hometown of Marburg. They stay with his brother, Paul, and the latter’s girlfriend, Nina. While Gwen is pursuing a career as a physicist and looks for a summer job as a university lecturer, Adam aimlessly drifts through life. After countless abandoned training programs, he is now trying to work as a photographer. Inspired by his brother, Paul, Adam eventually suggests an open relationship. To avoid losing him, Gwen agrees. However, even though she promises herself not to be jealous, in practice everything suddenly feels very different. Only when they both realize that they are destroying their relationship they begin to confront their own needs and fears.
