Kai Peter is the janitor at his son’s school—the very same school he attended as a child. Together with his wife, Meli, and son, Silas, he returns to his old hometown. Everything seems perfect: a secure job, a loving family, and Silas is following in his footsteps as a talented kickboxer. But Kai feels a deep sense of restlessness. He takes comedy classes, hoping to bring new energy to his life. A visit to the former children’s home, however, reopens old wounds, and meeting his former colleague Klaus confronts him with the paths of his past that he never wanted to walk again.

Filmography

2025 Tod meiner Jugend Spielfilm 2025

“Tod meiner Jugend is a film that asks questions rather than giving answers. It challenges us to look where we would otherwise rather turn away. But what happens if we find the courage to really look? Can we discover hope even in the depths of the human experience? How does a person manage to believe in good and give love despite the deepest of wounds? How do we find a language for the unspeakable? And what responsibility do we all bear? Tod meiner Jugend is an attempt to give space to these questions – in the cinema and hopefully beyond.”
