A festival thrives on encounters: sharing the big screen together, conversations with filmmakers, and exchanges between film professionals and audiences. Precisely because these encounters mean so much to us, we are committed to making the Hof International Film Festival sustainable – not only ecologically, but also socially. Sustainability is already part of many stages of our planning, from catering and mobility to inclusion and accessibility. Step by step, we are working to make the festival even more sustainable – today and in the future.

Regional Organic Products

Thanks to our partnership with dennree, many of the festival team’s meals come from sustainable, regional production. We also place special emphasis on vegetarian and vegan choices.

Resources and design

Upcycling & DIY

Old Film Festival posters and catalogues become new material at FILMSTOFF. At the open upcycling station in the festival centre in the Bürgergesellschaft in Hof, you can get creative yourself. More information in the HoF PLUS programme planner.

Sustainable printing

Our printed products are produced in a resource-saving manner using solar energy, mineral oil-free inks from renewable raw materials and paper from certified sustainable forestry.

Merchandise

In the production of our merchandise, we rely on regional production and, where possible, on certified organic and GOTS-tested textiles. Production takes place at shirteria in Schwarzenbach an der Saale.

Green electricity

For our office and the gallery house, which belongs to the Film Festival, we use green electricity.

Cultural Sustainability

We want to make film culture accessible, reach new generations and promote exchange on socially relevant topics.

HoF NEXT

With HoF NEXT, we are opening up the Hof Film Festival to a young audience and creating opportunities to discover film together, discuss social issues and experience cultural participation.

Planet Rebels Award

With the new prize (€ 5,000), we honour films that show new paths for our future with attitude, hope and visionary perspectives – especially with regard to ecological responsibility and sustainable filmmaking.

Social Sustainability & Participation

For us, sustainability also means enabling participation and breaking down barriers. This includes our offers for more accessibility and inclusion as well as measures for a respectful and open festival.
