Aurel’s first animation film JOSEP celebrated its German premiere at the 54th Hof International Film Festival. The French-Spanish-Belgian production was also in the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2020. And it won the European Film Award in the category Best Animation in December 2020.

It’s February 1939: Tens of thousands are fleeing Spain from the Franco dictatorship heading to France where they are interned in horrible refugee camps. During this time, two men in one of these camps become friends – separated by barbed wire. One is a young policeman, the other Josep Bartolí, resistance fighter, illustrator and artist.
