Strong Desires with Nikolas Darnstädt’s ODYSSEE at the online HoF Rendezvous

It’s going to be special at the next online HoF Rendezvous because on Saturday, 30 January 2021 at 7:00 p.m. Nikolas Darnstadt's ODYSSEE takes us on an “odyssey” of longings:

The film is a wild reworking of Homer’s Odyssey. Europe has burned down, the earth is uninhabitable, the home O longs for no longer exists. Trapped alone in his space capsule, constantly circling around himself and the dead Earth, O’s only companion is the hypnotic voice of the on-board computer that accompanies him in his permanent self-optimization. O is not interested in the present. All his strength, his striving and his longing are directed towards only one thing: the return to Ithaca. The only diversion are O's excursions into virtual worlds, where he meets a stranger, Nausikaa, due to a system error.

ODYSSEE is a cinematic realization with theatrical aesthetics: an extraordinary combination for a cinema evening like a trip.

As always, the online screening will take place live in the virtual Central Kino Hof, where you as a viewer can actively participate through a chat function. The screening is free of charge, but of course there is the possibility to buy a donation ticket with a freely selectable amount. All proceeds go to the filmmakers. We thank our Rendezvous supporters: Central Kino Hof, Rotary Club Hof and » Kino on Demand.

This video will be streamed using YouTube. Learn more

Since 2017, the Hof International Film Festival has been organizing the HoF Rendezvous under the motto “let’s do it again” at the Central Kino in Hof and the Lodderbast in Hanover. These are screenings organized throughout the year as part of the Hof International Film Festival. The filmmakers also present their films in person. By doing this, we allow the festival to have further impact and increase the anticipation for the next festival edition. And at the same time, the filmmakers are promoted once again through our communication channels.

While the cinemas are closed, the HoF Rendezvous takes place online in the virtual Central Kino with the support of the Rotary Club Hof and Kino on Demand.
