There is still a long way to go before Germany's highest film prize, the Lola, is awarded again on 24 June 2022. Before that, a pre-selection of 48 feature films, documentaries and children's films has been made by various juries. We are happy that HoF Home of Films productions are among them again:
The opening film of the 55th Hof International Film Festival, Peter Meister's debut film THE BLACK SQUARE. The comedy about the appearance and disappearance of probably one of the most famous works of art of the 20th century, the Black Square, won the German Cinema New Talent Award for Best Film at the 2021 festival as well as the first-ever Hof Critics’ Award.
Also selected is Ulrike Franke and Michael Loeken's documentary WE ARE ALL DETROIT - WHAT STAYS AND WHAT DISAPPEARS. The film follows the explosive transformation of two cities and their residents that have been shaped by the auto industry like no other: Detroit and Bochum.
Kida Khodr Ramadan's family drama ÉGALITÉ is also in the shortlist. The film is about a sensitive psychogram about a father who loses his footing after a stroke of fate and thus questions traditional oriental family structures.
Congratulations to all on the pre-selection. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for all films!
