We mourn the passing of Uta Schmidt

The pain is very deep. On November 14, 2023, the outstanding editor Uta Schmidt, who we so often welcomed as a guest at the Hof International Film Festival (HOF IFF), passed away.

For three decades, Uta Schmidt worked successfully as a freelance editor in the cinema and TV production for directors such as Anna Justice, Hermine Huntgeburth and Chris Kraus. For her editing in the feature film FOUR MINUTES (40th HIFF 2006), Uta Schmidt was awarded the German Camera Award 2007 and nominated for the German Film Award. She received a nomination for the German Film Critics' Award (POLL 2012/44th HOF IFF 2020). Uta Schmidt has also been nominated three times for the Edimotion editing award. 15 YEARS, which had its world premiere at the 57th Hof International Film Festival, is the last film she completed under her sole responsibility.
