This year, the Hof International Film Festival kicks off with a very special film that wonderfully reconnects us with the fundamental values of our society: solidarity, respect, and mutual acceptance. Integration and inclusion are essential building blocks of a functioning society, and we want to put a spotlight on them.
With the film ZEPPELIN OBEN RECHTS we introduce a project from Gießen: Atelier23. The documentary follows a total of seven artists as they work in their daily routines. Atelier23 is affiliated with Lebenshilfe Gießen and provides a place for people with physical, psychological and intellectual disabilities to work full-time on their art. We get to know the group closely and gain insight into the specific challenges of each individual. However, the focus remains on the art and the people behind it.
ZEPPELIN OBEN RECHTS showcases the individual work, the community, and the lives of the artists together, culminating in an exhibition at the inclusive Galerie23. Director Olli Duerr has accompanied the artists for three years.
Accompanying the film, you are invited to an exhibition of some artworks from Atelier23 at the Hoftex Halle in the city of Hof.
