This documentary portrays the creative work and shared life of seven individuals with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities at the Atelier23 of the Lebenshilfe Gießen. From the first stroke to the entire artistic process, and finally to the exhibition in the inclusive Galerie23, the artists were accompanied for three years. They share with the audience their techniques and perspectives on art. Viewers gain insight into the specific challenges faced by each individual, as well as the communal life in the studio. The focus is on the art and the person behind it.

“Over the years of its creation, the film became much more to me than just a cinematic work. The special approach to its realization allowed me to become part of the community. I was able to experience deeply personal situations, and the filming triggered within me what I wish for the viewers: to let go of all reservations and, more importantly, to be inspired and enriched by the individuals’ art and essence.”
