In cinemas and on tour: THE UNSPOKEN

The Granit – Hof Documentary Award winner at the 59th Hof International Film Festival 2025 (HIFF), THE UNSPOKEN (distributed by imFilm Agentur+Verleih) by Patricia Hector and Lothar Herzog (Hof Gold Prize at the 53rd HIFF 2019 for his first full-length feature 1986), will be released in cinemas nationwide starting Thursday, November 6, 2025, with the filmmakers on tour.  

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 18.00 h the filmmakers and HIFF’s Artistic Director Thorsten Schaumann invite to an audience discussion after the screening of THE UNSPOKEN at the Metropolis Nuremberg.  

For their film Patrica Hector and Lothar Herzog have conducted interviews with the last living contemporary witnesses of the Nazi era, focusing on those who were involved at the time, the followers and accomplices of the regime. Almost no one from this generation ever spoke about that time after 1945; in German families, the subject was taboo—the unspoken.
