Prices, Pizza, Party: Audience Short Film Award of the City of Hof 2025

    On Monday, November 15, the Hof International Film Festival (HIFF) invites you to the most “spirited” finale of the year. As part of Short Film Day, the 2500 € Audience Short Film Award of the City of Hof 2025 will be presented under the motto “Prices, Pizza, Party” at 7 p.m. at the Central-Kino Hof, in the presence of the filmmakers, the Lady Mayor of the City of Hof, Eva Döhla, and the Head of Cultural Affairs, Fabian Riemen.

    Afterwards, the celebration continues at the legendary Galeriehaus. Providing exclusive service are Franziska Kaiser, Head of Organization, and Thorsten Schaumann, HIFF’s Artistic Director. The soundtrack for the night will be delivered by Max Walther and Ralf Reusch (tickets here).

    During the 59th HIFF, the Jury Short Film Award of the City of Hof 2025, also endowed with 2,500 €, was already presented to Masha Mollenhauer for her film THE GOOD WOMAN. With this award, the city honors talents who generally still have their first full length films ahead of them. The Audience Short Film Award of the City of Hof is determined based on votes cast on-site in the cinemas as well as through the HIFF streaming platform, available until November 2, 2025.

    THE BARONESSE by Mark Lorei (19 min.)

    A fairy tale of a special kind. While the mother searches for suitable suitors for her daughter, the young baroness hears a man’s voice predicting a tragic fate.

    HOME by Esa-Lu Lorenz (18 min.)

    Samir, a student in Hamburg, unexpectedly receives a request to voluntarily leave the country. But his friends won’t let him face this alone.

    HOUDA by Svea Ege (26 min.)

    This documentary follows a skateboarder in Morocco who stands up against societal norms and forges her own path.

    SHORT FILM DAY = shortest day of the year
    The Audience Short Film Award oft he City of Hof is presented as part of Short Film Day (December 15–21, 2025), Germany’s largest nationwide event dedicated to short films. Extended to a full week, the diversity of short film is celebrated. The idea for Short Film Day originates from France and has been held in Germany since 2012, coordinated by AG Kurzfilm – the German Short Film Association. In more than 500 locations across the country, short films can be experienced in a wide range of venues.
