On 9 November 2026, it will be 88 years since the November Pogroms of 1938, also known as Kristallnacht. This day of remembrance commemorates the crimes of National Socialism and serves as a reminder that antisemitism, nationalism, völkisch ideology and radicalisation are by no means things of the past.

Against this backdrop, Theater Hof will present the staged reading “ICH, DIE FINSTERNIS!” on Monday, 9 November 2026, at 7:30 pm in the Orchestra Rehearsal Hall, as part of a nationwide theatre initiative. Based on Carsten Degenhardt’s psychological thriller of the same name, the performance features actors Benedict Friederich and Marco Stickel, who take the audience on an unsettling journey into the mind of a teenager growing up in a family environment shaped by völkisch ideology, obedience and authoritarian rigidity. Admission is free.

The staged reading is part of the cross-media project FINSTERNIS, which explores radicalisation, political manipulation and democratic responsibility. The project began in 2025 with the short fiction film “Prolog der Finsternis”, which premiered at the 59th Hof International Film Festival.
