Lukas Röder is a true HoFie. Since presenting his short film HEIMLICH („Secretly“) at the 51st Hof International Film Festival 2017, the filmmaker has been a regular guest in Hof. In 2021, Röder received the Hofer Gold Prize (now Friedrich Baur Gold Award) for BRAIN TATTOO, alongside Alisa Kosolova, who was awarded for CHARLY. Emerging from the subsequent Gold Prize mentorship with Philip Gröning, Röder’s feature film SCHAM („Shame - distributed by missingFILMs) will be released in cinemas nationwide on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
After four years of silence a son and his mother turn the camera on each other and confront their unhealed wounds. “In its brutal openness and almost self-lacerating psychology, Lukas Röder’s work recalls The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant.” (Filmdienst)
For their uncompromising performances, the two lead actors Heike Hanold-Lynch and Till Schindler were given the Bavarian Film Award in the category „Discovery“ („Entdeckung“).
