Last night, the 58th Hof International Film Festival opened with Emma Bading’s short film DOMESTICATED as a prelude, followed by the documentary ZEPPELIN OBEN RECHTS directed by Olli Dürr. After the screening, the film crews received rousing applause in all three premiere cinemas.
The team behind ZEPPELIN OBEN RECHTS, led by director Olli Dürr, received standing ovations as some artists from Atelier23 - Birgit Gigler, Eric Kosuch, Mirka Holsteinová, and Lena Kasperski - took the stage. They were joined by producer Elena O’Connor, along with Atelier23's leaders, Felix Lachmann and Andrea Lühring. The insight into Atelier23 at Lebenshilfe Gießen, which provides a place for physically, psychologically and mentally handicapped people a place where they can realize and develop themselves as artists, moved and touched the premiere audience. The film stands as a plea for the core values of our society: solidarity, respect, and mutual acceptance.
DOMESTICATED by Emma Bading, who is represented with three films at this year's Hof International Film Festival deals with the topics of femininity and role models in an entertaining and expressive way and was very well received by the audience, as well.
Festival director Thorsten Schaumann warmly welcomed the audience and opened the emotional evening. In a video message, Dr. Florian Hermann, Bavarian State Minister for Federal Affairs and Media, welcomed the guests to Hof. The evening concluded with celebrations at our festival center.
Yours, Hof Festival Team
