“Die Eine tanzt, die Andere nicht is the story of two friends who have to redefine their intimacy. The film raises the question of how other forms of (queer feminist) family, kinship, and care can be established within a diverse circle of friends. I wanted to explore the dynamics of a group of friends and observe how these dynamics change in response to an emotionally challenging situation. The film is about longing for closeness and belonging and about exploring a shared future. Through insights into the daily lives of the four protagonists, a subtle portrait emerges of young people emerges who are trying to renegotiate their understanding of family and community.”
