Special Events
Where words spark and ideas get rolling: In our events, thought leaders, creatives and industry professionals come together to rethink the now and tomorrow of film. Here people ask, argue, laugh – and sometimes design the future in the middle of a sentence.
Whether on stage, in the cinema or in the courtyard over a drink: Here, exchange becomes an experience – and sometimes the initial spark for the next big project.

Masterclass mit Julia von Heinz

In our Masterclass, filmmakers provide insight into their ways of thinking and working. Previous guests have included Rosa von Praunheim, Maria Schrader, and Abel Ferrara. We are especially delighted to welcome Julia von Heinz – a director whose career is closely intertwined with the International Hof Film Festival.
One of her short films was shown in Hof as early as 2003, and since then she has been a regular guest and is considered one of the most important voices in contemporary German auteur cinema. This year’s Homage is dedicated to her. The Masterclass will be moderated by Lukas Röder (Friedrich Baur Gold Award, 56th IHF). Both are “Rosakinder” – directors who studied under Rosa von Praunheim and learned to make films with conviction, courage, and a distinctive signature style. A rare, almost intimate glimpse into what truly defines cinema.
