At the HoF Rendezvous on Friday, 29 April 2022 at 7:00 pm, together with the Central Kino Hof, we’re getting back into full swing. The first audience short film award of the city of Hof for AYSHA will be awarded to filmmaker Cengiz Akaygün as part of the screening series. The prize will be presented by the Lord Mayor Eva Döhla and the Head of the Cultural Office of the City of Hof, Peter Nürmberger.
Afterwards, the winning short film AYSHA will be shown and festival director Thorsten Schaumann and director Cengiz Akaygün will lead an audience discussion. Afterwards, there will be "the biggest surprise in the colorful festival program" (Filmdienst) of the last festival: STAND UP! LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES by and with Timo Jacobs, who will join us with a digital greeting.
And the best thing is, admission is free!
Aysha (10), wearing a full-body veil, sits in the backyard of a house in Afrin, Syria. While she plays with a slingshot, her sister (9) joins her. Both are being tested that morning by a woman (38), also fully veiled. They have to quote verses from the Koran. While Asyha's younger sister passes the exam in exemplary fashion, Aysha has difficulties. Unlike her sister, she is rebellious and rejects the girl role imposed on her.
Charlie Schwarzer’s planned career as a stand-up no longer seems to ignite. His forgetfulness is diagnosed as dementia, and before he can talk to his beloved wife about it, she leaves him. Charlie explores his failures and tries to rediscover humor, and gets tangled up in an art heist in the process.
Since 2017, the Hof International Film Festival has organized the HoF Rendezvous under the motto "Let’s do it again" at the Central Kino in Hof and the Lodderbast in Hannover. These are screenings that show films of the Hof International Film Festival throughout the year. The filmmakers present their films in person. In this way, we let the festival linger on and increase the anticipation for the next festival. At the same time, the makers are promoted once again through our communication.
