Presentation of the Audience Short Film Award to TAXIMAN

On Saturday, 06 May 2023 the big HoF Filmtage Rendezvous will take place. At 7:00 p.m., the Lord Mayor of Hof Eva Döhla and Head of the Cultural Office of the City, Peter Nürmberger, will present the coveted Audience Short Film Award 2022 of the City of Hof in the Central-Kino to director Leander Behal for his short film TAXIMAN (56th International Hof Film Festival). Also attending is lead actress Michaela Behal. After the screening of the film, there will be an audience discussion with the filmmakers, moderated by the Artistic Director, Thorsten Schaumann.

Feature film: EMPIRE OF LIGHT by Sam Mendes

As full length feature there will be screened Sam Mendes' (AMERICAN BEAUTY, JAMES BOND 007 SPECTRE & SKYFALL, 1917, etc.) wonderful homage to cinema EMPIRE OF LIGHT (distributed by Disney). The film had its German premiere at the last Hof International Film Festival. The stellar cast, led by Oscar winner Olivia Colman (THE FAVOURITE, THE LOST DAUGHTER), BAFTA winner Micheal Ward (BLUE STORY, TOP BOY) and Oscar winner Colin Firth (THE KING'S SPEECH, A SINGLE MAN), takes us to the South of England in the 80s. There, we become part of the life of the cinema Empire of Light's team. Cinematographer Roger Deakins received an Oscar® nomination for this work.
