HoF 2011: Peter Goedel presents his documentary DIE NACHT IST NICHT ALLEIN ZUM SCHLAFEN DA.

Peter Goedel was a guest at the Hof International Film Festival on numerous occasions. Peter "...is one of the most exciting filmmakers of New German cinema. For his 80th birthday, the Filmmuseum München is dedicating a retrospective of his work" (Süddeutsche Zeitung) from Thursday, 30 March 2023 until Wednesday, 5 April 2023.

His best-known film TALENTPROBE celebrated its world premiere in 1980 at the 14th Hof International Film Festival (IHF). In Cologne's Rhine Park, this documentary shows "Udo Werner's Talent Rehearsal for Everyone". Singers face a crowd of 5000 people armed with whistles, trumpets, etc., who shout them down mercilessly if they are displeased. The aim is to bring the performance to an end, even in the face of resistance.

Among others, he returned with TANGIER - LEGEND OF A CITY (31st IHF 1997) and most recently with the documentary DIE NACHT IST NICHT ALLEIN ZUM SCHLAFEN DA (45th IHF 2011), a snapshot of the legendary Fraunhofer Schoppenstube in Munich's city center. Full of verve and always with a fine sense of feeling, Goedel approaches the unique proprietor couple Gerti and Werner and their group of colorful night owls.

Six of his films will be shown at the Stadtmuseum. Peter Goedel will be present at all screenings!
