Easter time is cinema time. A real surprise is of course OLAF JAGGER (56th Hof International Film Festival). The film opens in theaters on Thursday, 6 April 2023. And the documentary filmmaker Heike Fink and Olaf Schubert are still on tour.
What a headline: The well-known artist Olaf Schubert finds out by chance that his mother had a brief affair with Mick Jagger in the 60s, still during the GDR era. If you look closely, there is even a certain resemblance. Schubert sets out on a search and stars asking uncomfortable questions – to his relatives, to Rolling Stones exegetes, historians and experts. As incomprehensible as it seems – more and more circumstantial evidence suggests that Olaf Schubert will indeed have to rewrite his family history.
In this film, which was awarded the German Cinema New Talent Award and the Hof Critics’ Prize, Heike Fink's OLAF JAGGER wanders between Schubert's personal emotional roller coaster and a hard-hitting research journey with an uncertain outcome. This is at least the perfect Easter film!
