Marta (Ludovica Martino), a spirited and life-hungry single mother who was once promised to an older farmer, discovers a new world after World War II through her friendship with Lorenzo (Marco Leonardi), the village’s openly gay and charming wedding planner. In the heart of conservative Southern Italy, Lorenzo introduces her to a hidden community of free spirits. There, Marta finds the courage to stand up for a self-determined life. When women’s suffrage is introduced the following year, a time of great change, hope, and new beginnings unfolds.
