Five HoFies, i.e., films that had their German premiere at the Hof International Film Festival (HIFF), will be featured at the 72nd Filmkunstwochen Munich (Wednesday, 24th July 2024 to Wednesday, 14th August 2024).
Motherland
Firstly, MOTHERLAND (57th HIFF 2023/if...Verleih) by Miriam Pucitta will be shown on Friday, 26th July 2024 at 18.00 in the presence of the director, as well as on Monday, 5th August 2024 at 18:00 PM both at the Theatiner.
Empire of Light
Next, EMPIRE OF LIGHT (distributed by Disney/Searchlight Pictures) by Sam Mendes will be screened on Friday, 2nd August 2024 at 20:00 at the Rottmann. Among others, cinematographer Roger Deakins received an Oscar® nomination for this work, and Olivia Colman received a Golden Globe nomination for "Best Actress".
Shadow Child - Andreas Reiner - Images of the other life
For the first time as a HOFER FILMTAGE FILMKUNSTWOCHEN-RENDEZVOUS, SHADOW CHILD – ANDREAS REINER – IMAGES OF THE LIFE (distributed by Arsenal Filmverleih), directed by Jo Müller, will be shown on Sunday, 4th August 2024 at 11:00 AM at the City Kino. The film won the GRANIT – Hof Documentary Award at the 56th HIFF 2022. The film’s protagonist Andreas Reiner and the artistic director of the IHF, Thorsten Schaumann, will be in attendance.
Harraga – those who burn their lives
The lineup continues with HARRAGA – THOSE WHO BURN THEIR LIVES (57th HIFF 2024/distributed by Benjamin Rost) on Friday, 9th August 2024 20:00 at the Rottmann, with director Benjamin Rost and editor Erec Brehmer in attendance.
Project Ballhausplatz - Rise and Fall of Sebastian Kurz
On Sunday, 11th August 2024 at 11:00 at the City Kino, you can revisit Austria's favorite former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in PROJECT BALLHAUSPLATZ (Directed by Kurt Langbein/57th IHF 2024/Verleih Real Fiction).
