Generation Tochter

“In the fall of 2019, GENERATION TOCHTER was founded. More than 120 students, young filmmakers and creatives from different countries participated in this free, independent and feminist film collective. We want to show that equality and representation of women is not an obstacle for the film industry and to address topics that move us and our generation but have hardly been heard in commercial films so far. The emancipatory coming-of-age feature film GENERATION TOCHTER, with women in front of and behind the camera, was created in a collaborative effort and without much funding. For us, action is not blunt force, but an expression of Clara’s breakout from the structures imposed by her mother. The film shows the complex development of a young woman against the backdrop of violence, controversial female role models and the urge for independence.”
