After Arthur tries to take his own life, a period of awkward conversations and silent moments begins. Everyone tries frantically to say and do the right thing. But to boot, his group of friends also has to bury a giant rabbit. Despite doubts and uncertainty, the friends finally find their own personal way to deal with everything.
“With THEN I’D RATHER DIE, I try to destigmatize the topic of mental health and show that it's alright to not always know how best to react in such situations. The story about Arthur and his friends is a portrait of a normal group of friends that couldn’t be more diverse and in which everyone can find themselves somewhere. Between insecurities, feelings of shame and faux pas, THEN I’D RATHER DIE is, in the end, a life-affirming film.”
