Anne Trister, a Swiss-Jewish 25-year-old artist, leaves Switzerland after her father’s funeral in Israel and moves to Montreal. There, she visits her friend Alix, a child psychologist who works with a difficult girl named Sarah.
Seemingly detached from the world around her, Anne begins creating a large mural in an abandoned warehouse while trying to come to terms with her past. Gradually, romantic feelings develop between Anne and Alix, which proves to be a complicated situation as Alix is in a happy relationship with Thomas.
