The 50th Hof International Film Festival will take place this year from 25-30 October 2016. Heinz Badewitz had already begun this year’s preparations. Although we will implement his ideas and guidelines, the festival will have a different character than originally planned. But the festival will be an anniversary celebration in Heinz’s spirit, with the same vigor and dedication as ever. And it will remain a HOME OF FILMS to filmmakers.
We are delighted to present an experienced curatorship which guides voluntary and supports this year’s edition and is responsible for the program selection:
Alfred Holighaus (President of SPIO, Spitzenorganisation der Filmwirtschaft e.V.),
Thorsten Schaumann (Program acquisitions Sky Germany) and
Linda Söffker (Program head of the Berlinale section Perspektive Deutsches Kino).
All three have been visitors, friends and fans of the Hof International Film Festival for years and have been very closely connected to the festival, its team and, in particular, to Heinz Badewitz, whose trust they enjoyed. Moreover, and based on their own long years of experience in the film industry, they bring with them great competence.
We are looking forward to this new working relationship. Together, we would like to present new films from Germany and all over the world, just as Heinz Badewitz would have done. And with all of the filmmakers, we would like to celebrate, in his honor, the 50th Hof International Film Festival.
