The 54th Hof International Film Festival will open with AND TOMORROW THE ENTIRE WORLD

Julia von Heinz will open the 54th Hof International Film Festival 2020 with her new feature film AND TOMORROW THE ENTIRE WORLD. When the night is at its deepest, the day is closest: As if taken from real life, Julia von Heinz wrote the screenplay together with John Quester. The result is a thrilling socio-political drama that couldn't be more topical and raises the question of how far one is willing to go for the sake of one's political commitment.

Luisa is 20 years old, comes from a good family and is studying law in her first semester. And she wants things to change in Germany. Alarmed by the political shift to the right in the country and the increasing popularity of populist parties, she joins forces with her friends to take a clear stand against the "fascists". She quickly finds sympathy with the charismatic Alpha and his best friend Lenor: for both of them the use of violence is also a permitted means of resistance. Soon the events escalate. And Luisa has to decide how far she is willing to go - even if this could have fatal consequences for her and her friends ...

“AND TOMORROW THE ENTIRE WORLD is a stirring statement against populism. Julia von Heinz playfully fills the screen and draws us into an inevitable maelstrom of self-questioning and agitation. With this she shows: Cinema lives!” Thorsten Schaumann, Artistic Director

Already with her short film LUCIE & VERA, Julia von Heinz drew attention at the Hof International Film Festival in 2003. From then on she was a regular guest at the festival and presented her films again and again in the following years: in 2008 the documentary film NOBLE COMMITTMENTS about three single aristocratic women; in ROSAKINDER she faced the crazy challenge of coming to terms with the relationship to her super-father Rosa von Praunheim in 2012 together with five fellow directors; in 2013 the feature film HANNA'S JOURNEY followed and in 2018 FÜR IMMER UND DICH.

Besides Mala Emde (303) as a combative young woman in the leading role, Noah Saavedra (FREUD), Tonio Schneider and Luisa-Céline Gaffron (WHEN HITLER STOLE PINK RABBIT) fascinate at her side.
