The documentary HARRAGA – THOSE WHO BURN THEIR LIVES (57th Hof International Film Festival 2023) is currently competing in the Short Film category at the Casablanca Arab Film Festival.
It follows four Moroccan teenagers—Imad, Nourdine, Walid, and Hamza—who live in a cave under the lighthouse of Melilla. Every night, they break into the port, trying to board ships headed for Spain. The film documents five years of their lives, from living in caves to attempting to flee to Spain. They call themselves “Harragas”—those who burn their passports, borders, and their lives
Keeping our fingers crossed!
