In order to write her new novel, which is based on autobiographical, traumatic experiences, an author has retreated to a secluded estate. Increasingly, strange incidents occur and it soon becomes clear that a man is stalking her. He pushes her to the edge of her physical and psychological limits.
“[...] The inspiration for HAUS DER STILLE came from personal experiences that shaped me. They served as approaches and perspectives. It is a purely fictional story, not my own. Despite healing, these events leave scars, and I see an urgent need to tell such stories. For me, it was of particular importance to create a film that illustrates the consequences when women, despite long-lasting violence, do not seek help. Victims often defend their tormentors because they are caught up in the situation and perceive the truth in a distorted way. Abusers exploit fears and manipulate to feel powerful. The victim must recognize that she is being mistreated. Otherwise, it is difficult to free her from this stressful situation. If no change occurs, the cycle of violence continues. Even more serious is the potential danger that the victim herself could become a perpetrator. [...]. The narrative shows the consequences of lasting physical and psychological violence. The film is intended to serve as an impetus for change and help.”
