The Hans Vogt Film Prize of the City of Rehau honors the pioneering work of engineer Hans Vogt, who was born and grew up in Wurlitz. He was significantly involved in the invention of the (light) sound film and thus heralded a new era in film history.
Since 2012, the prize has been awarded during the Hof International Film Festival and is endowed with €5,000. The honorary award is aimed at filmmakers, composers and musicians who are creative, innovative and passionate about the quality and expression of film sound and film music.
The interaction of image, sound and music is of crucial importance as it enhances the narrative depth and emotional impact of a film. The harmonious fusion of these three components creates a cinematic synthesis of the arts that immerses viewers deeply in the story and turns cinema into an intense, emotional experience.
