In his documentary, Barbet Schroeder takes a look at the terrifying personality of the radical monk and sheds light on the extent to which he is one of the main perpetrators of the persecution of the Rohingya. USFAHRT OERLIKE (feature film, CH, 2014) by Paul Riniker, who presented the film at the 2015 Hof International Film Festival. It is the only feature film to feature the two greats of the Swiss entertainment scene together: Hans is 80. He has experienced a lot, traveled the world, started a family. A few years ago, his beloved wife Martha died. And now he has to have his old dog put to sleep. A new phase of life begins and it is his true friend Willi who sticks by him ... until the end. David Nawrath’s THE MOVER (feature film, D, 2018) and team were frenetically celebrated by the audience at HoF in 2018: 60-year-old Walter is a furniture packer for forced evictions. An old building is to be emptied out and sold at a high price. But the last tenant refuses to move out. Walter believes he recognizes in the young man his son, whom he abandoned decades ago and has never seen again since. With an outstanding cast including Rainer Bock, Albrecht Schuch (German Film Award “Best Actor” 2020), Thorsten Merten, Nina Gummich and many more, this is a gripping family drama in times of gentrification. A reunion with Christoph SCHLINGENSIEF – A VOICE THAT SHOOK THE SILENCE (documentary, D, 2020, directed by Bettina Böhler) at the Lodderbast with Wiebke and Johannes Thomsen. The exceptional artist was at the festival for the first time in 1986 with TUNGUSKA - DIE KISTEN SIND DA. After that he was a guest in HoF again and again. Among others, MUTTERS MASKE or GERMAN CHAINSAW MASSACRE were disturbing and at the same time formative works that he presented here. In GOOD GIRL GONE BAD (feature film, D, 2018, world premiere HoF 2018), director Petra Lüschow takes us back to the peace movement of the 80s in her first feature film. 17-year-old Ursula Mayer lives in the province, which is increasingly influenced by the ideals of the ‘68 movement. On his last day of work before retirement, a special parting gift gets tangled up in his locomotive: a beautiful blue lace bra. Just who might that little piece of fabric belong to?
