The Prix-Lumière (Lumière Award) is awarded at the Festival Lumière in Lyon. It is one of the most important awards given to filmmakers as well as actresses and actors for their life's work. The name goes back to the brothers Auguste and Louis Lumière, who are regarded as the inventors of cinema and were both born in Lyon.
