Veit Helmer's GONDOLA, whose German premiere was celebrated at the last Hof International Film Festival, has been released in French cinemas (distributed by Destiny Films).
The film tells the story of two gondola drivers in the Georgian mountains, excellently portrayed by Nini Soselia and Mathilde Irrmann, who meet several times a day while crossing their gondolas. In the process, they fall in love. GONDOLA is a romantic comedy of the truly "Helmerian" kind, as the film dispenses entirely with dialogue.
GONDOLA is Veit Helmer's declaration of love to (silent) cinema and is now inspiring French audiences there too.
