The Hof International Film Festival (HoF IFF) is hosting a new HoF Filmtage Rendezvous on the International Day against Racism, 21 March 2024, 7 p.m. at the Central-Kino Hof with WHO IS AFRAID OF HITLER'S TOWN? (57th HoF IFF) by the winner of the Hans Vogt Award of the City of Rehau 2023, Günter Schwaiger, followed by a talk.
Why has no movie ever been made in Austria about Hitler's birthplace and house? Director Günter Schwaiger asked himself this question. For five years, the director followed the exciting developments surrounding the subsequent use of Hitler's birthplace with a very personal perspective. From questioning the clichés of the "brown city" to surprising and outrageous discoveries, his path ultimately leads him into his own family history.
Representatives of the "Bündnis für Zivilcourage - Hof ist bunt" will be present as guests for the talk with the audience after the movie. The event will be hosted by HoF IFF Artistic Director Thorsten Schaumann.
HoF Filmtage Rendezvous is a series of screenings organized by the HoF IFF that has been running since 2017. Under the slogan "We'll do it again", festival films are shown throughout the year in cooperation with the Central-Kino in Hof, the KoKi in Hanover, and the Capitol Kino in Plauen. The filmmakers present their films in person. In this way, we let the festival linger and increase anticipation for the next International Hofer Filmtage. At the same time, the film makers and their projects will be pushed once again via our communication.
