The 59th Hof International Film Festival 2025 came to a successful end at the weekend after six intensive festival days – and draw an all-round positive interim balance. Until November 2, 2025, numerous films can be streamed digitally throughout Germany via HoF on Demand.
With around 15,500 tickets sold, the festival reached the level of the previous year despite 280 fewer seats. The 820 accredited guests from film, media and press also underline the international significance of the traditional festival, which once again lived up to its motto PLACE TO GROW.
A special highlight was the newly designed film festival mile with three additional pop-up venues – Arts Avenue, Haus der Musik and Neustädter Turnhalle – which were transformed into high-quality cinema halls by technology partner zweiB. Together with the main cinema Central in the city centre of Hof, they offered an extraordinary cinema experience at the highest technical level.
The festival programme included 153 short and feature films, including numerous world and European premieres as well as 44 German premieres from over 30 countries – from Australia and France to Japan and Venezuela.
Among the prominent guests were Amira Aly, Emma Bading, Dominik Graf, Mike van Diem, Julia von Heinz, André Hennicke, Peter Lohmeyer and Robert Gwisdek alias "Captain Peng", who was awarded the Hans Vogt Prize 2025.
