What will be different in 2023?

The 57th Hof International Film Festival consists of two festival components: face-to-face screenings in the cinema and films on demand at HoF on Demand. The films are shown both in the cinema and online in the form of screenings: With a ticket you can, with a few exceptions, watch a short film and a feature film.

Where can I watch festival films?

There are face-to-face screenings in the Central cinema and Scala film theatre. Films as video on demand can be viewed via the film and ticket portal. The use of HoF On Demand is only possible from within Germany.

When can I watch which films?

Face-to-face screenings in the cinemas will take place exclusively during the festival from Tuesday, 24.10.2023 to Sunday, 29.10.2023. The films go online as HoF on Demand about one hour after the cinema premiere. Most films will be available in the video portal up to and including 5 November 2023. Deviations are indicated, as well as access limits for some films.

What ticket variants are available?

Tickets for the face-to-face screenings in the cinema are available online via our ticket portal at the following prices:

  • per film: 8,50 €
  • Ticket of 5: 39 €
  • Ticket of 10: 78 €
Where can I get tickets?

You can get your tickets for the presence screenings in the cinema via the film selection and the link to a specific screening. Although there is the possibility to purchase tickets at the ticket container near Central Kino from Tuesday, 24.10.2023, 2:00 p.m., with the online purchase you avoid longer waiting times.

Please note that there are two different login procedures for online cinema tickets and for the Hof on Demand portal.

As an accredited professional visitor, log in to the cinema ticket portal using the e-mail address you used when making your request and then confirm the e-mail address using the e-mail in your inbox. When you then log in again, the ticket portal will recognize your credentials once you are logged in.

How do multiple tickets work?

You buy a voucher for 5 or 10 screenings or a short film ticket online. You will receive a code by e-mail, which you enter when booking the single ticket or when watching performances instead of the payment process.

Tickets for HoF On Demand are available on the film and ticket portal in the following variants:

  • per film: 7,50 €
  • Ticket of 5: 35 €
  • Ticket of 10: 60 €
  • Short film ticket: 25 €
Where do I register?

Please note that there are two different login procedures for online cinema tickets and for the Hof on Demand portal.

Please create a user account on the film and ticket portal of our website with your e-mail address and a personal password. Upon successful registration, you will receive a confirmation email with an activation link for your account via email (please also check your spam folder!). By clicking on the confirmation link in the email, you activate your account. You are now automatically logged in and your name will appear in the upper right corner of the screen instead of LOGIN.

Accredited trade visitors must use the e-mail address with which they registered in the accreditation portal. You will receive a personal accreditation code by e-mail. Please enter this code when registering. You can add this accreditation code to your profile settings (Your name / My profile) at any time.

What happens if I forget my password?

Simply click on "Forgot your password?" on the login page and enter the email address you used to create your account. You will then receive a link by e-mail to reset the password.

How does online streaming work?

Accompanying the cinema screenings, a lot festival films will be shown online at HoF On Demand on the internet. The films can be viewed as individual retrieval (VoD) from about one hour after the cinema premiere. A film on HoF On Demand is available for 48 hours from the first view.

Are there any restrictions on streaming?

The use of HoF On Demand is only possible within Germany. Depending on the film, there may be maximum limits for the maximum number of views as well as for the period available online. Please inform yourself under the heading "Films" on our website.

When can I watch a film?

A film on HoF On Demand is available for 48 hours from the time of purchase if you have booked a film that is already available.

If you buy the film in advance, i.e. before it is available on Demand, the 48-hour period starts with the first play. You will receive an email reminder when your pre-sold film starts online.

What technical requirements does HoF on Demand require?

To watch festival films, you need at least a computer, laptop or tablet. Of course, you can also project onto a smart TV. Playback automatically adjusts the resolution to your devices. Of course, the devices must be connected to a sufficiently fast Internet access. Please use the latest browser version (recommended for Chrome, Firefox, Safari) or the system browser of your smartphone or tablet.

Can the online ticket be used from multiple IP addresses?

Yes, but you must be logged in with your email address and password.

Where can I buy cinema tickets?

Cinema tickets are available at the accreditation office in the Bürgergesellschaft in Hof or online. When purchasing tickets online, please log in to the cinema ticket portal using the e-mail address you already used for your request and then confirm the e-mail address using the e-mail in your inbox. Then, when you log in again, the ticket portal will recognize your credentials once you are logged in.

How does Hof on Demand work?

Please create an account on the film portal and log in using the email address that you used for accreditation or that you have on file with us. For the Hof on Demand portal, you will receive a personal accreditation code by e-mail, please enter this code when registering. You can add this accreditation code at any time later in your profile settings (Your name / My profile).
