Four generations of women in one family struggle with the expectations placed on them as mothers and partners. Their own dreams and desires for self-fulfillment are often left behind in the process. How can the traumas of the past be prevented from being passed down to the next generation? Will the cycle ever end, will it ever be broken?

"Completing a film degree is an enormous challenge […]. Financial burdens and the pressure to earn a living were major hurdles in finishing my studies. After yet another rejection for my graduation film, I wondered if the last ten years had been in vain. But then I […] decided to try making a film with the limited resources available at the DFFB. That’s how Ende des Kreises came about – a chamber piece, born out of the necessity to realize a big vision with a small budget. […]
Ende des Kreises is more than just a film project; it […] is a journey through my story and that of my foremothers and is dedicated to my daughters and to all women who want to break free from the chains of their past – to pave new ways for their children and avoid the mistakes of previous generations.
Ende des Kreises tells the story of four generations of women, all of whom had (and have) dreams – dreams of living up to their full potential. But they often fail, sacrificing their lives for their husbands and families instead of living for themselves. When I look at the world around me, I wonder how many stories of talented women today hang out to dry on clotheslines or are hidden away in the kitchen. Perhaps my film can help put an end to this cycle one day."
